EA releases FIFA 14 for free on iOS and Android

EA has now released FIFA 14 for iOS and Android. Unlike past iterations in the mobile franchise, this time around EA has adopted a new business model, offering the game for free with in-app purchases.
FIFA 14 for iOS and Android will come packed with 33 leagues, more than 600 licensed clubs, and over 16,000 players from the English Premier League, La Liga and the German Bundesliga among many others. The game will also feature 34 different authentic recreations of licensed stadiums along with what the company calls "intuitive new touch controls" that allow you to hold and "drag players to move them around the field." You simply tap to pass and swipe to shoot.
It also comes with Football Club Match Day, which allows the game to emulate real-world injuries and suspensions as well as roster and team changes. You'll also find the usual fantasy team options where you get to build your own squad from the ground up. You can then compete in tournaments to gain coins, allowing you to buy new players and otherwise improve your team.

With the freemium model EA is hoping to generate revenue through in app purchases that include things like FIFA points and various game modes like Manager, Tournament, and Kick Off.
So far early impressions have been positive leaving the game with around a 4.5 star rating on both the App Store and Google Play. Great mobile games come at a bit of a price though--make sure you leave some room on your hard drive--this game takes up 1.3GB of storage space according to the download pages.
You can pick up FIFA 14 for free on iOS and Android now.
